The reading was pretty interesting as a whole considering how it was put together by Patchett. She managed to include a good amount of backstory for the readers to get a grip of what was the history between the main character and the character (Lucy) she’s living out her college days with. The first chapter seemed to practically go back and forth in my eyes though. We (the readers) started out looking through the main character’s eyes as she heads for college with her step sister from Tennessee – but there were abrupt times where it jumped to a time in her past. It continued to jump back to the past, then back to the present a few times but it was easy to read. My question is why did the main character have a vary caring side for Lucy? Lucy seemed to avoid all kinds of communication in the earlier days, so it’d be interesting to know why.

Office Hours: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM. I’ll be available through Zoom and will send an invitation via email that you should keep all semester. Try to join my meeting at the start of the hour, not at the end—since I may be talking to other students or have another appointment after the hour is up. If those times don’t work with your schedule, we can schedule a different time. This means you’ll have to schedule an appointment in advance. I suggest you have multiple times in mind, since your schedule may not mesh with mine!
