This is a story about self-defense, self-protection, and women empowerment. In 2010, India had the highest rate of rape cases and sexual assault cases, which is still going on and not stopping anywhere. Mostly the teenage girls were getting raped in that years. On the newspaper, social media, on television, everywhere, showing the new stories about raped girls in different places. The picture of the crime scene and the picture after girls were rape was also showing in the newspaper, social media, and on television. By looking at that scary picture, the teenage girls were scared and scared to go out and not want to go to school and college.

This story is about a girl name Taneya who was 18 years old and studying in high school and living with a joint family in India. In the family, four generations are staying under one roof. Also, she was the only girl in the joint family. She did know anything about what was going in the outworld, what was happing in society, or what was happing in the news channels. She didn’t have a cell phone and no best friends because she always busy with her joint family. She didn’t have any ideas about the rape case that were increasing in her society. Besides, she and her family always watch television together; whenever things appeared on tv about news rape or kidnapping, her family member changed quickly and distracted her mind.

After her school finished, Taneya regular route from school to home as she had to go to the tutor’s house and complete all her homework there, and after that, she goes home. Her tutoring section finishes at 6:30 pm every day, and she had to go home alone. Most importantly, in 2-3 months, an increasing rate of kidnapping and rape was happening in that country. Every newspaper and television was talking about kidnapping and rape, but she had no idea about the news going on. Even though her family member didn’t want to tell her about kidnapping and rap because they don’t want their child to suffer from depression. Her family also thought that she is very softhearted, not strong enough to handle this kind of news, they thought she still a little kid.

              One day, she was done with her tutoring section, heading to her house. Her house was three blokes away. One man followed her from school to her tutor’s house and waited outside the house. Taneya overlooked that someone was following her. It was getting dark at night; also, the man was wearing all black cloth and a black hat to cover his face. She noticed him when he was getting closer to her and said, ” Hey girl, listen!” and tried to grab her from the back. He was about to grab her, but she pushed, punched, slapped, and kicked him; she knocked him out. She did everything she could to protect herself from that man and ran to the nearest police station and told them everything happened. That night he was got arrested and later police found that he was also a rapist.
