By the title, you clearly tell the story is about a person who loves water, ocean, or lake. Also love seeing beautiful view of the ocean. This story is about Hiram, and he is the narrator. He is a slave. This is a historical fiction and historical fantasy story. I really enjoyed reading fiction stories. I really love that part when on the River Goose, Rose was dancing with water juba because her arms, legs, and head move gracefully at that moment. I like how there were many characters in the story, and each plays a specific good role in the story.

I agree the author does go into detail about the actions of the characters which makes us visualize what was happening. It definitely a distinctive writing piece.
