A constant disagreement I have had with someone recently was about covid 19 and whether it is real or not. I do not often run into to people where we can’t settle on one thing. Not long ago, I have tried multiple times to explain to a person that covid 19 is very real but they strongly believe that the government has done it on purpose to depopulate the country. I had a hard time with debating with this person that believes in conspiracy theories posted online. No matter how much facts I used even about how the economy works, and why it does not necessarily make sense for the government to set loose a deadly virus, it does not seem to click for him logically. This was the basis of the disagreement which occurred whenever I talked to this person about what is happening in the news. I will not share the name but there are people out there, many still to this day, after a complete year in this pandemic strongly believe that the virus is not real. I have seen people both on social media and on the news saying this but I have never met a someone in person that also feels this way. Long story short, encountering one of these persons I tried my best to explain that it is very much real. Most of the time though I truly felt like I was trying to move a tree that is strongly rooted in the ground. Even though we disagreed on that, I am glad we found some common ground where we both felt that the vaccine, even though reported safe may not be top quality simply because it was developed quicker than another one and it has never been widely tested only until now.

Office Hours: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM. I’ll be available through Zoom and will send an invitation via email that you should keep all semester. Try to join my meeting at the start of the hour, not at the end—since I may be talking to other students or have another appointment after the hour is up. If those times don’t work with your schedule, we can schedule a different time. This means you’ll have to schedule an appointment in advance. I suggest you have multiple times in mind, since your schedule may not mesh with mine!
