What I think about Patchettās work, I think that she was very detailed and transparent about this friendship. The narrative gives way towards a painted picture of just how fragile a person can be on the inside despite seeming so different in appearance on the outside. I enjoyed being able to imagine all the little details. For example when she said, ā We all dressed in identical plaid skirts, white blouses, saddle oxfords, and when we prayed, it was together and aloudā Reading this brought me back to when I used to attend Catholic School, especially my High School years. Just reading that alone made me remember the smell of the church and the convent. A question that I do have would be what put that spark in her to want to put a piece out like this one?
