Driving

City lights start to glow, as I drive on the road.

The night is young and music vibrating the car,

As laying back and driving.

FDR highway going up north, more like passing

On the side of the city. Bridges connected and leaves

you wondering, humans really built all this?

The sound from passing cars, realizing everyone is just going

Home after a long day. Families, friends, or one person

Can be in each of those cars passing by.

The night is young and you’re close to home.

As therapeutic it can be, you feel the energy

Around your car present from the music.

You’re now home going to bed,

After a long day of work, rest. The

City that never sleeps, will rest

In dreams.

Memory letters

Dear dad, are you confused? You seem lost

in understanding, your mistakes. What did

you go through as a child?

Is it whatever you went through that made you like this?

Do you remember when you took me to the park

to see you play soccer? I would look up and see

how tall you are.

I saw you crossing your arms together one day,

And I did the same, just to see us together in a

Picture.

I would follow you anywhere. Whenever it was a movie

night at the theater, we would always spend time playing

with the arcade games.

What made me

I came from always play fighting with my big brother.

I came from seeing one of my friends in middle

school collapse to the ground catching a seizure

from a laced brownie sold to him at our middle

School.

I came from listening to dave east freshman year of high

school having me want to be big as him, having me

look for a gym to hit the weights.

I came from coming out of school seeing fights being

settled, having me and my friends yell out stupid

sh*t.

I came from witnessing gang signs and codes

Written all over the boy’s bathroom.

I came from being an immature kid to a 19 year old

With dreams and ambition.

Bye-bye summer

Walking out from your apartment, forgetting

to check the weather, you feel the breeze

Of fresh wind hitting your skin.

Signals that summer is over. Leafs changing color,

Introducing to fall. Some drastically falling and so

Halloween comes in making the night spookier.

The wind starts to feel more like a freezer, you

then start to sleep with double covers or duvet,

Feeling the warmth surround your body.

Then wake up to go to work or school, the weather

It makes you feel to stay in bed all day. Suddenly,

time starts to change making days shorter, saying bye

To your friends an hour early than usual.

Go home and repeat everything again, except you’re

now thinking what to make for thanksgiving and

What presents to give for Christmas.
