I do not like poetry. I never really learned how to write poetry. During the span of my education, I was never told to do anything concerning poetry. Therefore I never learned how to write poetry. Besides not knowing how to write poetry, poetry is also intimidating to me. I feel as though poetry is more rigid than other literary styles like short stories or memoirs. This is because when I read poetry, I find that there is a certain way poetry is written. There are a lot of metaphors, imagery, and rhyming. To have all these literary devices within almost every poem, makes it feel like a poem is not a real poem until there is rhyming. However, I am optimistic. So far, writing poetry has not been fun but it has been interesting.
