Leviza Murtazayeva- “What happened to______?” Formal Critique?

Creative Writing ENG1141

Title : What Happened to____?

Author: Anonymous

After reading the piece from anonymous author I came in to a conclusion that there is a lot to take care of for a person, for them too achieve what they desire. For example, in this case I would assume that the author is a female, and she is writing about her life and it goes on a timeline of writing different pieces with her partner and also experiencing the occurring difficulties such as me loving the fact the author introduced her situation of being a mother, a writer, a wife and a teacher at college. Nothing really made her loose hope to become this succful writer she always wanted, even when she ended her relationship with her husband, became in poverty for $200,000 from the divorce in court, she never lost motivation to continue writing.

I enjoy the authors writing style and how she brought up many different settings and plots in to her piece too explain her story. The way she was writing gave me an impression of her sharing the story from her life, to look back on to compare where she can be right now. The idea of writing the piece anonymously also gives many readers a chance to deeply use their imagination to sink in the author’s style of living and life situations in general. One question that made me think a lot throughout reading the whole piece would be, Where is the motivation to keep going further coming from even though there are many difficulties occur at the same time?

Levisa, great response. I too believe that the author tells the audience about the setbacks in her life due to toxic masculinity in order to raise awareness about this issue. She explains how her thriving career is halted because of the threats from her husband. Society does not know the extent to which toxic masculinity effects a woman’s life. She is raising awareness about the various aspects of a woman’s life that this issue hinders.

Hi Levisa grate critique ! I too like the way in which the author tells her story by sharing indept details of her life as a wife, a teacher and as a author. The authour was able to connect to her readers on a personal level by allowing her readers to not only think about her story but to also take a minute and think about the many women out there who are suffering in silence.

Her story speaks truth about the expectation of women in this male dominated society, and how women are always viewed as doing something wrong for performing better that their male counterparts. In the authors case, she suffered abused not only by her husband but also by the justice system that tried to question her worth as a woman simply because she performed outside of the “female role box” that society place women in.

Hi Leviza, I liked your critique of the story. I like how you talked about the author and how abusive her husband is towards her. You even talked about her daughter seeing all of these and how bad and psychological affects it might have towards her future. The author has really taken care of her daughter, having a full-time job. I like how the author speaks about her abusive husband.

    Hi Leviza,
I like how you mentioned the specific point from the author’s life about her being in a $200,000 debt and live in a poverty but never losing her hope on to become a successful writer and make her dream come true. She never stopped writing and continued her journey to become a succesfull and strong woman

I definitely agree the way anonymous connected to the readers. Anonymous definitely had a hard time get her way during the story stories. It was also difficult to read someone losing the court case when she was not even the abuser.
