I personally feel a lot more comfortable writing an essay rather than a speech. Iām not very good at writing a speech so I think just the idea that I was writing one limited me more than anything else, but I do believe that I can get better with practice. The format of Douglassās speech really helped me pull together my own piece of writing. I liked the way his speech was formatted so I used that as an outline for my own.
āNothing can be done to remove bias and hate from peopleās hearts who make a conscious choice to be ignorant towards their fellow human beings every single day. The only temporary solution I can think of is if the government steps in, which again is very unlikely, and sets consequences for hate crimes and hate speech against minorities and makes them effective immediately then maybe people will back down. Other than that, Iām not very hopeful as much as I want to be, there is no light of hope for my fellow American Muslims and other minorities in this country.ā I personally struggled to write what the solution to my problem would be because I didnāt think there was one but then after some brainstorming and asking around for opinions I was able to come up with an idea about what to write.
If I had more time to work on my speech I would personally add a bit more information and personal experiences from other people around me to make this speech a bit more interesting and original because I think it would really put a personal touch within the speech.
