Quote 1:
“Warmly as I admire the genius [see Glossary] of that able writer. . . ., indignation always takes place of admiration when I read his voluptuous [see Glossary] day-dreams. Is this the man who in his ardour for virtue wants to banish all the soft arts of peace and almost carry us back to Spartan discipline? Is this the man who loves to portray the useful struggles of passion, the triumphs of good dispositions, and the heroic flights that carry the glowing soul out of itself? …”

I find this quote by Mary Wollstonecraft very useful : “Now think about women who are restrained by principle or prejudice. They would shrink from an intrigue [= ‘an xtra-marital affair’] with real abhorrence, ·but play with the idea because· they want to be convinced by the homage of gallantry that they are cruelly neglected by their husbands; or they spend days and weeks dreaming of the happiness enjoyed by souls in harmony, until their health is under- mined and their spirits broken by discontent. “

Persuasion
Explain why you find this useful, persuasive, or effective in some other way: This quote I find very persuasive and useful. It is showing how she is asking the reader/listener to think about women who are restrained by principle or prejudice. She is letting them think about her point and if its right or wrong. I think letting the reading be part of your writing is a big thing. After all they will end up having their opinion on what you state. And maybe even end up agreeing with what you are saying.
