Which discourse community do you think would benefit from your research? How much do they know about the subject? What assumptions, expectations, and/or concerns might they have? Why and how would this discourse community benefit from this information? What would be the best method/genre/media for reaching your community and why? (approx. 200 words)
The Discourse community I believe will benefit from my research is the African American community, the Black Lives Matter movement and other minorities that are being targeted on a daily basis. I expect some of them to have concerns regarding my research, and not so much assumptions as, I am basically putting out a narrative that only fits some people in the community and not everyone has experienced the same grade of racism or racism at all within the justice system. I think one best thing to come out of my research and that will definitely benefit my discourse community will be to get more people of color and minorities to run for local offices, the only way we can take control of our destiny, is to empower ourselves not recurring to violence but empowering by involving ourselves in the system that has in so many ways dehumanized and demoralized us. The method I believe will be the best to get ourselves involved is visual as well as linguistic. As we have seen recently, and I’m not talking about those riots and vandalism but about the pacific protest going on around the nation the best way to get us to work together towards a solution is by visualizing the injustices we are facing. So to an end I think the best way to communicate things is by Visualization and Linguistics.
