I found global warming as a really interesting and important issue. Climate Change will be the topic I will use for my Annotated Biography.
Notes regarding the issues of Climate Change/Global Warming:
- Temperatures are rising throughout the world and the U.S. increasing the risks of droughts and wild fires. Rainfall patterns, glaciers and snow melting at an all time high as well as the sea level rising.
- The increase in temperatures impact the migration patterns of animals and plants as they change their dates of activity.
- Global Warming may lead to extreme weather other than cold or heat extremes. It can also lead to more re-occurring hurricanes and become more intense.
- The burning of fossil fuels such as coal, oil and the use of nuclear energy are hurting our climate.
- Forces that contribute to Climate Change are the suns intensity, volcanic eruptions, and changes in occurring greenhouse gas concentrations.
Summary:
Climate Change and global warming are impacting our society in negative ways. The rise of temperatures and the burning of fossil fuels are the reason why wild fires are burning at an all time rate in our country out in the West coast. Hurricanes have become more powerful than ever before. The use of clean and renewable energy are ways to stop climate change. We have to get used to using energy that can be re-used. For example, using electric cars would stop the use of gasoline and go to a more efficient type of energy. Using energy from the sun can be energy that is renewable and therefore, we can slowly stop the burning of fossil fuels.
Questions:
- How are ways we can stop the burning of fossil fuels where everyone uses renewable energy?
- How is Climate Change referred to extreme weather?
- Is the United States doing anything to stop and prevent climate change?
- Can we make a change in our everyday lives to actually prevent climate change?
Great questions!
