The genre I chose to write using Frederick Douglass method as a speech format allowed me to portray the issues involving undocumented immigrants in this country. I found it much easier to express my thoughts about the problems surrounding immigration via a speech. It was certainly easier to express my thoughts through a speech vs. a traditional academic writing because the issues of immigration in this country is very current and enabled me to express my thoughts and feelings about the situation much better. Similar to Frederick Douglass, his speech was about a current event, in his case about the enslaved black men and wanted to raise awareness. Douglass speech was during a difficult time period with the purpose of raising awareness to people and government officials.

Analyzing and trying to understand the DC of Wollstonecraft’s letter. Her writing and the length of her letter was hard to understand for me personally. I had to re-read the letter a few times to fully understand her true concept of her letter. If I had an extra 24 hours to further develop my speech I would try to make the audience actually feel the pain of the immigrants and try to create a picture for them to show the true feeling of families getting separated.
