1. Why is she writing this letter? What does she want from the recipient of the letter?

Mary Wollstonecraft is writing this letter because she is fighting for the rights of women. She wants the recipient to reconsider the respect and the education women deserves and women to be treated with equality like men.

2. After reading this letter, how would you identify the DC that Wollstonecraft is a part of? Does the recipient appear to be a part of this DC or outside of it? (Really think about this!)

I would identify that Wollstonecraft is a part of the women rights DC because in her argument, she mostly brings up how women are treated inequality and mention many reasons why women deserve equal rights like men. The recipient appears to be outside of it because like I mention earlier, Wollstonecraft explains why women deserve equal rights and same education like men.

3.

Quote 1: “To improve the morals of their fellow-citizens by teaching men not only *to respect modesty in women but *to become modest themselves, as the only way to deserve women’s respect.”

Identify the writing strategy you see Wollstonecraft using: the writing strategy used here is expository writing.

Explain why you find this useful, persuasive, or effective in some other way: I found it useful because the quote seeks to explain why women’s rights should be respected and should be as equal to men. This section of the quote provides clear information for its argument.

Quote 2: “But until men become attentive to the duty of a father, you can’t expect women to spend in their nursery the time that they …. choose to spend at their mirror; for this exercise in cunning is only a natural instinct to enable them to obtain indirectly a little of the power of which they are unjustly denied a share. If women aren’t permitted to enjoy legitimate rights, they will seek illicit privileges in ways that make both men and themselves vicious.”

Identify the writing strategy you see Wollstonecraft using: The strategy used here is persuasive writing

Explain why you find this useful, persuasive, or effective in some other way: This section is effective solely of the mistreatments women receive in Society, they are expected to do a task that involves a man but the man isn’t present to help. The stance which is being said is that men view women as their  subordinates, which isn’t fair. The writer gives his opinion on the male and female roles and believes that each shouldn’t be classified, but should be equally classified.
