The social justice topic that I am choosing to write about is racial inequality. After doing some research on this topic, I found some shocking facts and statistics. Some of these include the fact that almost half of the people who are on death row as of 2020 are black people. When there is a case where a black person kills a white person they are far more likely to be put on death penalty. Furthermore, innocent black people are 7 times more likely to be wrongfully convicted of murder than innocent white people. A third of unarmed people who were killed by police were black. Some question that come up to mind while doing this research is what is the true reasoning for these high numbers in convictions against black people oppose to white people? Is this a continuing pattern? If so, how can we prevent this pattern continuation?
