According to the dictionary, the definition to civil disobedience is the refusal to comply with certain laws or to pay taxes and fines, as a peaceful form of political protest. To me Antigone did not engage in this act. Not being allowed to lay rest her brother was no official law, it was just what the ruler proclaimed he wanted to be done. The technical law of the land was to bury him, so she was following the actual tradition and what was right to do by her brother. She even mentions about how Creon word is not that of the gods, that they are not law as soon as he speaks them. She was just following the regular tradition, laying her brother to rest, no matter what is it he has done.
