The term Civil Disobedience is the refusal to comply with certain laws, demands and commands of a government or corporation. I say that Antigone did engage in an act of civil disobedience. Why? Because she buried her brother against her uncle’s rule. The rule was that her brother who was branded as a traitor to be left out for the birds to feed on instead of being buried. If anyone was to try and bury him they would be sentenced to death by being stoned. Antigone saw this as a disgraceful act against her brother and decided to break the rules. She was then caught and sentenced to death but went gladly because she was full of honor.

Office Hours: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11:30 AM – 1 PM. I’ll be available through Zoom and will send an invitation via email that you should keep all semester. Try to join my meeting at the start of the hour, not at the end—since I may be talking to other students or have another appointment after the hour is up. If those times don’t work with your schedule, we can schedule a different time. This means you’ll have to schedule an appointment in advance via email. I suggest you have multiple times in mind, since your schedule may not mesh with mine!
