I believe writing a speech was probably harder than a letter because I had to address a wider audience. I also had to be more inclusive, and try to find common ground with the audience on the issues I presented.

Both Douglass’ speech and my peer reviewer’s comments helped me differentiate between a traditional essay and a more personal speech.

Something I didn’t understand previously was the fact that letters and speeches need a more personal touch, and need to incorporate more of a first-person approach.
