Reading “Shitty First Drafts” before beginning my writing process changed how I approached the Narrative Essay. Before reading “Shitty First Drafts,” I honestly struggled to get ideas onto the page and get ideas to flow easily. It was difficult for me to really write what I really wanted to write as I often held myself back because I wasn’t sure if the sentence was complete or made sense. I completely changed how I approached writing as this time I let myself type all the ideas without really reading it over until I’m ready to revise, rearrange, and edit. Once I basically ramble on the page, it becomes easier for me to look through the text I wrote and see what errors I made or what I can improve or change. This new approach to writing completely changed how my essays flow and how I look at how I edit and write.
