Pieces by Douglass, Malcolm X, and Jiang are all personal education narratives that depict how people could open their minds to education despite struggling. Each story is very personal, sharing how one’s story relates to our perception of our world and the significance of education in our experiences. I found Jiang’s piece to be relatable because it was a small moment in her life that she remembered, later changing her perspectives upon educating herself on art. It was a memory she shared with her grandmother during a time when they had no access to education.
