Plato’s Allegory of the Cave tells the story of prisoners chained within a cave, only able to see their shadows. The shadows and chains represent the inability to see beyond what you’re comfortable with. The darkness of the cave shows the comfort in one’s own perspective. Plato is telling us to recognize the darkness of the cave and to seek truth and knowledge. Those who have not left the cave are unable to understand the light outside. Allegory of The Cave stresses that education is important to condition your mind.
