One piece of useful and encouraging advice that i can implant in my reading skills is when the author ,Mike Benn, spoke about ,”The goal as you read like a writer is to locate what you believe are the most important writerly choices represented in the text—choices large as the overall structure or as small as a single word used only once—to consider the effect of those choices on potential readers (including yourself).”This pretty much means ,when im reading a piece of literature with the mindset of a writer, my aim is to identify and understand the author’s deliberate choices in their writing. These choices can range from significant decisions like the overall structure of the text to minute details such as the selection of a single word that may be used uniquely within the text. This can help me develop a deeper appreciation for the art of writing,by closely examining an author’s decisions, i gain insight into the thought process behind the text, and empowers me as a reader and writer.
