Allegory of the Cave was a piece that had many meanings and was very symbolic. The whole concept was to give thought on the nature of belief versus knowledge. It talks about how people can live in a “cave” where they don’t know much and are just living on pure belief. The prisoners of the cave carry shadows along with them that I would believe show who they are. Plato was just trying to explain that there is a whole world outside of that cave which he represents by the sun. Plato wanted to show that some people live in a small enclosed space like the cave and don’t see the reality of the world.Â
