Although these three different pieces of stories are all written in different scenarios and situations by Jiang, Malcolm X, and also Douglas. They all fall into the same category under the same topic. These authors describe their learning experiences within certain events and situations. The technique I think they’ve used while writing this is pathos. I say this due to the fact that most readers can connect to some parts of events that happen or they can relate to them. That technique allows the readers to feel some form of sympathy, so I think them using this technique and also explaining their learning experiences is why it’s put in this category, “educational narratives”. For example, In Jiang’s piece “The Memory of My Grandmother” states that “the initial cognition of aesthetics is always started by asking questions with intuition”. This shows how the questions that Jiang’s grandmother asked led to Jiang think deeply. Which I can relate to, my sister would ask me the most simple questions and I had no clue how to answer them. I still think about the questions too.
