Philip-Lorca diCorcia was born on 1951 In Hartford Connecticut. He had gone to school of Muesum of Fine Arts while also getting his MFA. Philip had also gone to Yale University New Haven in Connecticut in 1979. After graduating from the University, he had started to take photos of certain types of people within Los Angles. The photos he had taken had been of friends and families In a specific type of way. During that time he had his first photo exhibit In 1993 which was at the Museum of Modern Art In New York. Philip had even more exhibits through the years within that Museum showing many examples his interesting types of photography,

I had chosen this photographer since when seeing his photos at first glance It was interesting to see how Philip took his subjects In a certain type of light or way. Or I should say the approach he takes on the people he takes photos of. I would say that I like how the photo Is saying so much without having so much In the area. At the same time the way the people seem to accept the photo being taken of them Is what makes the photo even more curious to look at. I also think that the type of people that he took pictures of and continued with that. The atmosphere In the photos reminded me of how photographers make sure to let you see what they are seeing with just one photo. Or even letting you feel what they are trying to convey with what they are focusing on within the photo. I think that It’s an interesting way that you can tell that Philip Is very much different from what you would think you would see from a photographer or the type of photos you would see.

What strikes me about his photos Is that when looking at them Is that for me there saying something without having to show too much. Seeing that only one person Is In the photo show that Philip can use a setting to advantage. What strikes me even more that the photo Is the that the photos lighting uses the subway In a great way and even makes It better In my opinion. But I cannot ignore the woman that In a way helps convey the dark within the photo. The expression I would say Is what also helps with setting being more apart of her.

I relate with the photo since It has such a mystery to It but at the same time having something happen within It, I like how It also feels like a movie scene that is happening but In a calm way. The way that even though the lights are still but are in a fast motion. I know that the trains are passing by but still It fascinates me that the lights are alive themselves. I would even say that I’m curious about If Philip had meant for the lights to be that way. In conclusion I would say that I was very intrigued with how Philip presented the photos with such curiosity and calmness.
