• Dawoud Bey used photography as a way of finding his voice because he wanted his work to be emotional. He photographed styles in which he uses dark and gloomy (in a way) photographs that show the depth of his work and it showed his emotions and inner feelings. In one of his photographs he depicts a mother and daughter he uses this photograph to evoke feelings happiness by capturing a mother and daughter building a bond.
  • Carrie Mae Weems used photography as a way of finding her voice because she wanted her work to tell a larger story than what’s being told.  She photographed styles in which had a very important light effect I think she did this to show importance. The kitchen table depicts different moments in her life and I think she wanted to show how not everything is what it seems.
  • I think that to find my own voice I need to find something that tells a deeper story then just what’s being shown.  Something that evicts a great amount of emotion from a person. I want my work to stand for something.
