Lab Report 09/04

TITLE: Analyzing exterior features of a Samsung BlackJack cellphone.

OBJECTIVE: Catalog all the pieces and special design on the surface of the cellphone.

MATERIALS: Samsung SGH-i607, a cellphone camera and notebook.

METHODS: We took pictures of all sides of the cellphone and took notes of all visible features. We also looked at the Wikipedia article about this cellphone.

RESULTS: Samsung BlackJack’s measurements: 4.45″ x 2.32″ x 0.4″ Weight: 3.5 ounces

On the Back of the cellphone:

  • Camera (1.3 Megapixel)
  • Speaker
  • Mirror for selfies
  • Battery (Removable 3.7 Volt Lithium-ion, 1,200 mAh) and Battery cover
  • Slot for a SIM card
  • Covered up screws

On the Front of the cellphone:

  • Speaker
  • Screen (resolution: 320 x 240 px, 2.25 inches)
  • QWERTY keyboard
  • Navigation button
  • Microphone

On the Top of the cellphone:

  • Power button
  • Strap holder

On the Bottom of the cellphone:

  • Nothing

On the Right Side of the cellphone:

  • Scroll wheel clicker key
  • Return key
  • Micro SD card slot

On the Left Side of the cellphone:

  • 2 Buttons (up & down) for volume and brightness control
  • Power and Bluetooth input ear piece

 

DISCUSSION: Zohaib took pictures with a cellphone that didn’t have Internet connection so that slowed down the process of documenting this lab. Looking the Wikipedia article really helped identifying some pieces. For next lab we are going to take the cellphone apart and analyze the inside.
