Title: Lab Report: Dissection of a Samsung BlackJack SmartPhone

Objective: My goal is to discover the outer buttons and functionality of the outer surface of the Samsung BlackJack smartphone

Materials: – Samsung BlackJack (model number SGH-i607) – Small Screwdriver – Smart Phone Camera – Notebook – Wikipedia

Methods: My methods to reach the objective is to photograph all sides of the phone, look at the buttons, screen, speaker and other functions on the outside of the phone.

Results: I recoded the information on the outer buttons and functions of the phone.  The Samsung BlackJack Smartphone has:

Back:

  • camera (1.3 megapixels)
  • speaker
  • mirror (selfies)
  • battery cover
  • battery
  • slot for sim card

Front:

  • front speaker
  • screen (320×240 px 2.25″)
  • QWERTY Keyboard
  • Navigation Buttons
  • microphone

Top:

  • power button

Bottom:

  • nothing

Right Side:

  • scroller key with clicker
  • back/return key
  • micro SD card slot

Left Side:

  • volume control
  • power and specialized headphone jack

Discussion: In this lab looking on the outer buttons and functions of the outer layer of the phone worked. Continuing with this lab will be to take apart the smartphone and look at all the inside components of the phone.
