Journal Week 9 – LED Blazer – Audio

This past weekend I have been searching for small mics that we could discreetly place on the blazer to make the LEDs sound active. My initial idea was using a lapel mic. Something I needed to take in to consideration is that the mic needs to have its sensitivity adjusted so it can work in a club like environment.

The problem with that is the mic needs to work in a nightclub where spls will be very high . The mic will not only pickup the kick drum but everything else in the music unless we use a very high-end mic the mic . This will make the LEDS seem like they are randomly moving instead of being in sync to the music. Due to this I am also looking at a tempo tapper the the user can use to tap to the beat. This is not a priority at the moment but once I can get the LEDs to react to sound I may try to add this feature.

Here is a link of it being implemented – http://learning-arduino.tumblr.com/post/12046833573/automatic-beat-detector
