Journal Entry #3

*Apologies for this post being really late*

So I was looking through the interviews of different people on the designing interactions website and to be honest, they all seemed very boring to me. After looking through about more than half of the people, I saw one person that caught my attention. His name was Will Wright. I thought to myself for second, “hmm..that name sounds very familiar”. After clicking on his name and looking at the interview, I discovered that he was the man who found Maxis and created the Sims, a very familiar name indeed! Being that I played the Sims a lot, I definitely wanted to learn more about this man.

His childhood consisted of making models and simulations with his hands and on the computer, no wonder he grew up to be a wonderful game designer! The way he explains his motives and his way in which a game designer can and should keep the player entertained really caught my attention. By offering rewards in progressive iterations, it would make the player want to keep playing to see what more rewards they will receive. To me, this is why the Sims is addicting and why I will still keep playing it for a long time.
