For this week’s journal entry, out of the many people involved in the Designing Interactions book, I chose to talk about Larry Tesler. The reason I picked Larry is because we are both programmers, even though we program different things, we still want our end result to be something simple and easy to use. Yes, having things with lots of bells and whistles maybe great, but most of the time simple is sometimes better.
Throughout Larry’s career, he has worked with well known companies, like Apple, Yahoo, and Amazon. At most of his jobs, Larry was involved in user design, interface and experience. Basically, Larry’s goal was always creating something simple and easy to use for all computer users, not just the experienced ones. Larry tends to aim for modeless software, meaning the user’s action is always has the same effect, instead of different effects based on previous actions.
