Mother Tounge Response By Angel Vallejo

This passage was very well written and described. I love how in the beginning she talks about the love she has for the English language, and slowly she transitions to her mom’s trouble. Throughout the story she speaks about how the public has trouble understanding her mom. It seems like at first she’s embarrassed at the fact, but when you get towards the end you can sense her gradditude and appreciating her mom for what she is.

One compelling moment was when she mentioned how her mom made her talk on the phone for her. It seemed like she wasn’t fond about it but did it anyway for her mother’s sake. Another interesting moment was the whole story ! I give the author a big thumbs up. She made the story interesting and very relatable. Growing up I thought the same about my mom’s lack of English.

The author’s purpose was very broad and simple. It seems like she wanted to let the reader know how her mom’s English really affected her and the things she to go through. I wonder what was the author’s mood while writing the piece ? Was she happy and relieved ? Did her mom improve her English ?
