Peak Performance response

It’s a universal fact that if one wants to get better at anything they must practice, The Article “Peak Performance: why records fall”, by Daniel Goleman shows evidence how much an individual can improve their abilities through practice. According to the article individuals who holds world records in their respective area of competitions goes through intense training for years. World records in all areas been shattered in the last 100 years because of such intense training. The article states that the “marathon gold medalist’s time in the 1860 Olympic games is only about as good as the qualifying time for the Boston marathon”, these shows how much of a difference can practice make.
The most compelling moment in this article is when it states that the Marathon gold medalist’s time in the 1860 Olympics games, was by 1990, only about as good as the qualifying time for the Boston Marathon, and Dr. Ericson taught college students to listen to listen to a list of as many as 102 random digits and then recite it correctly. This is compelling because it shows how much we as human can improve our skills at anything, and anything we consider impossible today can to achieve in the near future.
The authors purpose for writing this article would be to motivate ad inform the readers that anything is possible through hard work and dedication. Any barriers can be broken if we work hard enough.

Thesis,

John McWhorton believes that it is wrong to judge an applicants credentials based on their grammar, this is true because applicants should be judged based on the job requirements, public school in the U.S doesn’t prioritize grammar so some never tries to get better at it but they could be very skilled at the job they applied for, and finally applicants from foreign country who’s first language isn’t English may lack proper grammar but could be more qualified for the job than applicants with proper grammar.

Times Square VS My Neighborhood – Mohammed Mia

My Neighborhood: I live on Fordham road, it’s in the Bronx. Fordham road is like the times square of the Bronx, it’s always busy during the day but unlike Times Square it gets quiet after business hours. During the day you can see people shopping going from store to store, then there are people who can’t keep a constant job so they get hired by the business owners to advertise for them, they’re the ones yelling “free phone” or “mega sale check it out, check it out”. You can always smell different sorts of food on Fordham, there are the halal stand, pizza shops, Chinese restaurant and etc. People who are used to living in quiet neighborhoods will have a hard time adopting to Fordham’s way of life, one can’t pass through Fordham without being shoved and pushed unintentionally by other pedestrians who are also trying to get by. Even though Fordham could get over crowded and it feels like I’m constantly dodging people when I’m just trying to get by it still feels like home.

Times Square: It’s one of the most culturally diverse place in America, you can see people from almost every culture there. It’s the most crowded place in NYC, one can find anything they desire there, cloths, jewelry, food from any culture, and entertainment. There are enormous bill boards everywhere, and some of the buildings are so tall the top isn’t even visible. Times Square is extremely secured, there is a NYPD stationed right in the middle of everything, cops are posted in every corner and there are the surveillance camera that are constantly being monitored. Times Square is always crowded and busy but at night is when it truly wakes up, all the bill boards and lights turns it’s a sight to remember.

I have a dream Response
While reading the “I have a dream” speech by Martin Luther King Jr. I noticed that he is furious about his people facing injustice and discrimination 100 years after Emancipation proclamation which freed the slaves. He wants to bring about change which will grant African American equal rights and end segregation, in order to end segregation he suggest that all African American must unite for one cause. Even though African American been Abused and discriminated for 100s of years he doesn’t promote violence, he believes violence won’t change anything and makes things worse. He wants his people to bring about change through will power and peaceful protests. I noticed that even though Whites discriminated against his people for so long but he doesn’t despise them In fact he went as far as calling them his “brothers”.
I found it compelling that he doesn’t want African American to fight for equality though violence, he states that “We must not be guilty of wrongful deeds, Let us not seek to satisfy out thirst for freedom by drinking from the cups of bitterness”. I find this compelling because even after all he witnessed he was able to stay above it and suggest his people attain freedom the right way.
I wonder if Martin Luther king jr. believed in everything he preached, and also I wonder if knew at the time what a revolutionary speech he was giving during the speech.
I think purpose of this speech was hope. He wanted the people who been oppressed for so long to be reenergized to become one to bring about change, he wanted to make his people believe that it’s possible.

My life in 3rd person
Mohammed was born in a isolated place called Barisal, away from the big cities. He always witnessed poverty throughout his childhood, but it never affected him because his family owned a lot of land and they were finically stable. Growing up Mohammed barely lived with his father because his father lived in the U.S to support the family back home. Since his family was land owners he was able to afford the most prestigious education, he attended the best school in the city. Even though he personally never had to face poverty he will understood the pain of the less fortunate, his ambition is to bring change to his city and end poverty. At the age of 10 he moved to the U.S with his mom to live with his dad in order to receive more advanced education. He adapted to American school with ease education wise, but it was quite difficult for him to adapt to the western way of life especially the western accent. In time he adapted to American life style, he was a straight A student until 10th grade before losing sight of his ambitions. In his junior year of high school everything started going downhill, he started focusing too much on social life than anything else. He went from being a honors student to barely passing any of his classes. Before he realized how much he messed up, high school was coming to an end and he had to attend summer school in order to graduate. Currently he is attending City Tech in hopes of redeeming himself and still holding on to his ambitions.
