Cui Zhang [Introduction]

Hello everyone, my name is Cui Zhang (first name is pronounced as Q). My pronouns are she/her. I am currently living in Flushing, Queens. I am an upper senior currently majoring in Communication Design and pursuing the advertising route. This is my final semester here at City Tech. I am finally graduating with my BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) degree, cheers. I have many hobbies. During my free time, I like to take pictures of the sky (if they’re pretty), I like to draw, play games, fold stars, and do many DIY art crafts such as painting, or even decorating things with either washi tape, stickers or fake whipped cream glue. I am also a huge fan of collecting Funko pops as well as other mini figures.

The picture below is by far one of the pictures that is extremely meaningful. As a child, I’ve always been fascinated and always liked taking photos of the skies. I realized that taking photographs of the skies, it’s like telling an incredible story using our own point of view and our own imagination. The photograph was taken and created back in 2019. On the left, was the photograph I took, and on the right my friend used her imagination to create beautiful art out of it. Many people have different views when they see the photograph. Some of my friends said, they either saw a dragon, lobster, birds, butterflies..etc.  There are no right or wrong answers in the photograph on the left. It’s all based on our own imagination and what we see.

“The world is a canvas to our imagination”

Introduction

Hey everyone, my name is Christine and I am a female. I’m from New York and I’ve basically lived here my whole life. I major in associate in science in business and technology of fashion. I’m in my first sophomore year of college also known as the third semester. Some hobbies I enjoy doing would be trying different popular food places, hanging out with my friends, drinking boba, going on late night drives or playing 8 ball. I feel like college right now can be stressful, especially now that our break is over. Honestly, I felt like the break has went by way too fast and that I’m not ready to do all this again. However, I am trying to shift my mindset back to the school zone so I can stayed focused and succeed through out this semester.

The photo below is a picture of me and is significant to me because I love being able to make outfits that go together. In this picture I am wearing a baby blue bape hoodie with my university blue Jordan 1’s. My hoodie which matches the color of my shoes. A bathing ape is the brand of my baby blue hoodie and is one of my go to clothing brands that I really like. Additionally, this photo is meaningful towards me because choosing what to wear is a way to express yourself and how you want others to see you. Lastly, the background of this photo is the city view which is where I’m from and I enjoy looking at city views, especially during the night.

Mamadou Bah [Introduction]

Greetings everyone, my name is Mamadou. I live and reside in the Big Apple, also known as New York City.  I am a English Major here at City Tech, looking to create opportunities for myself in the writing and journalistic workspace. I was originally in New York City and was raised to adhere to the community we all have came to cherish (for the most part). I’m in my third semester here in college and honestly without a doubt in mind, it’s been an interesting experience. I was also told to ‘fear college’ and be intimidated by the amount of workload our universities would provide throughout my school career and to now embellish the true experience of being in college changes my entire perspective. I’m looking forward to creating a path for myself, for future innovation and the advocation for a better government in our country.

Delving towards what my interests are, I have found myself really involved in politics. Right now, I believe there is a political and economical divide in our country. We are living through times of separation and our country is divided now more than ever. America is suffering from a national identity and unity crisis, and I point the blame towards our current political parties. Our two political party system have divided this country and rather than addressing the large-scale issues America faces, both parties push these agendas and narratives towards one another to try and stand as the better party. As a result of this, our government becomes weak in the eyes of the general public. I’m working on a book I’m currently writing that addresses these issues head on as well as other issues that pose a threat to our society.

For some reason, I really admire this picture of myself back in ’06. Not only does it prove how big of a Spider-Man fan I am, it perfectly depicts my general mood to this day. Looking back at old memories leads to nostalgia, and nostalgia is the epitome to our connections of the past.
