Andy Warhol Screen Print on Canvas
Date Visited 12/17/18
The artwork I chose was from the Whitney Museum of Marilyn Monroe by Andy Warhol. It was a small portion of an all over print. I picked this piece because I found it very similar to our Project 4 assignment. He used color to define certain areas of interest as we did, he used color to also add texture and rhythm in the piece. It was interesting how he used scale to make this an even more powerful work of art.
This project was my favorite project this semester so far, I am very attracted to color and liked learning how to use the color wheel. It is something that I will use in other arts that I create.
My favorite color is Red, red is associated with extreme passion and love, but also has a dark side is also linked to violence and crime. I am very passionate about the art I create and I think that’s why I relate to the color red.
My High Contrast image I took in class to start the project
My favorite color was red
My emotion we anger, I chose to display this emotin by adding raised eyebrows. I added horns to give a snese of evel and I added a frown.
The mood of my Texture image was peaceful, the texture was smooth and its contrast created a great tone. My patter image was very geometric and its flow repeated, it had harsh contrast.
In this part of the project, I went in and cropped the image much closer. Adding new shapes by using the negative space. I spent about 2.5 hours working on this project.
