During the initial stage of my process, I would gather all the documentation useful throughout my investigation, such as property information from the South Carolina Department of Buildings. I would then acquire specific information such as year built, Complaints, Violations, and Job/Fillings before the incident to compile a brief history and modification information. My next step is to find the certificate of occupancy to acquire Permissible Use and Maximum Occupancy such as live loads and zoning Information. Moving on to the factors that contributed to the collapse of the floor. I’ve concluded that the collapse was due to structural failure caused by the fraternity event and time or failure due to previous work that was done to modify the building but was not done properly. I think it was the owner’s responsibility to enforce, the occupant load allowed as well as the individuals responsible for planning this event, therefore both parties should be held accountable for risking the safety of the public.

Ololade Tolu Owolabi Case Study #1
Following the design/build method of construction where the architect designs the building for the owner/developer with the owner already been in contact with an independent construction company. One of the problems was the owner who was making demands without thinking of any structural consequences and the superintendent agreeing to them just so to save money on the owner/developers side but by doing this the structural strength of the building is been diminished and would be unable to perform the structural component which it is been used for. While also going against the building code and regulations.
The architect would have to require a slump test to be done. While also notifying the Department of Buildings to send an Inspector construction safety enforcement officer to inspect the structure as it is unfit for living. Then a formal notice should be given to the owner/ developer stating clearly that the agreement between them has been breached. The contractor’s requisition should not be certified as the contractor clearly didn’t use the right amount of materials and the job should be redone. In conclusion, the architect and the contractor have no formal problem as there were no legal documents been them but the duty of the architect is the protection of the lives of people.
My Dream Career
The position I would like to hold in the building industry would be that of an architect with extensive knowledge in the field of construction management which by understanding what actually goes on the site, the work produced by me would be much more efficient and would also prove to be a valuable skill to have under my belt when it comes to preparing myself for the future that is to come. According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, An Architect is a person who designs buildings and advises in their construction and is also a person who designs and guides a plan or undertaking.
Been an architect would be my dream job for a number of reasons, one being that it had been my best choice because I was was stuck between choosing Engineering which has to do with the building of things and a lot of specific calculation to be sure that the building could withstand whatever was thrown at it by nature and been a Doctor which helped in making people feel better. So I found a way to do both things that I was interested in and combined it into one thing which was architecture. Although studying architecture can be quite stressful and be full of deadlines but so if everything important in life but it is also something that interests me a lot while also exposing me to the realities of life through the experiences of my professors and mentors around. Been an Architect also helps me in catering to the needs of my clients by not only listening to them but also understanding what it is that they need in other to provide to them spaces that would help in increasing the quaily of life as a person. Although it can be time-consuming it made me understand that people will make time for what they want to make time for.
