A floor collapsed during a party held in a meeting room of a residential building. The information that should be investigated is maximum live load of the space and the concrete slab test results. I would factor in the building owner or architect to be liable. The building owner should post a sign of what the maximum load of the meeting room is. The architect should be responsible if the building concrete does not reach its requirement.

Case Study #1-Mahamadou Abdou
In the discrepancy of the concrete mixture, there were many problems that the architect had to face both with the owner and superintendent of construction. The architect had a required amount of cement to use within the concrete to follow building code. Though the owner went behind the architects back to decrease the cement content of the concrete to save money. The superintendent of the construction should have been using the right amount of cement but he was cheating with the owner’s knowledge. This could be dangerous for the support of the house and the architect could get in huge trouble if something was to go wrong in the future.
As a professional architect we prioritize public safety when designing a project so the architect should hold off on the signing the contractor’s requisition. The contract between the owner and the architect was broken by the owner during the construction of the house. The architect should act so that his career is not in jeopardy. The solution in the architects’ cause should be to report the problem to DOB. Also report to the construction company so that everybody is well-informed or aware of the problem.
Dream Career
Mahamadou Abdou
You could say as a child, I had many dream careers I wanted to purse. One being to play basketball in NBA. It wasn’t until middle school; I developed a talent in drawing and love for art. I didn’t enjoy writing, so I found a way to project my ideas by illustrating them on paper. Even though I enjoyed playing basketball it seemed to be something I always done for fun and that I could do more. Growing up I didn’t expect architecture to become an interest until senior year high school. My high school specialized in architecture and engineering. I was introduced to architectural projects and programs such as Autocad and Revit, which piqued my interest. I was amazed at with how our ideas developed into a finished project. Once in college I learned more about architecture and how broad it its.
I really don’t know what I want my dream career to be. But if I was to choose right now it would be between interior design or being a project manager. Even though I don’t have much experience in both it’s been an interest of mine ever since I started college. I would like to use what I learn about interior design and construction to apply that knowledge in the field. My creativity and design ideas would be displayed in my future projects. Finishing college with my bachelor’s degree currently is my top priority. Also, I would like to apply for internships to gain more experience so that when I graduate, I can find a job or position at a firm. To me my dream career is something that I will enjoy waking up to every day.
