HW:1 Fleet Week, jeff cheng

The photo represents New York Harbors Fleet Week showing a overhead view of the harbor.

It feels like is intensions was to show the beauty of the entire Fleet. He wanted the express the beauty of the Fleet with an overview of the ocean.

Julie is emphasizing the ships in the water, because it is where most of the actions is coming from it really attracts your eye.

I feel like it was perfect the way I captured the entire event, it looks stunning.

its really bring my eyes to the ships and since the ships are scattered it brings your eyes around the photograph and you notice the rest of the detailed beauty.

when looking back you can see all the people heading towards, or is at the harbor to watch the event.

its really powerful. Showing off a lot of these old ships that where so much in the past but now it is rare to see one but in this event you get too see the whole harbor full of them and it’s a rare sight to see.

the rest of the gallery is photographs of mostly tourist attractions, and New York is famous for that and I feel like that is what he wanted to show in the gallery.

  1. This is a very beautiful photo. As you say there are ships of all kinds scattered over the water. And this does add interest. But it is not as if there were hundreds of boats. The beauty comes from something subtler. the image is divided into thirds: sky, water, land. And then there is the color. It is sunset on a cloudy evening. The lights coming on provide some warm color to contrast with the gray blue of the sky and water. The green of the trees is very vivid as the trees can be in spring. Fleet week, I think, is at the end of May.
