Today I learned about rules of third. It’s when the picture is divided into three, the left right, and middle, and the image can fall into any of those three places. I believe it makes a photo interesting and you focus in on it more. To photograph rules of third, my group took a picture of the chair laying down over to the right with space on the left and middle. The place where the chair is is where you focus in on.

A Photographer’s Language

I was unclear about shooting negative space.  Negative space is when you focus more on the background, rather than on the image.  Another term that was hard to comprehend was
frame and radical cropping.  Frame and radical cropping is when the image fits solely into the cameras view finder.  Oblique angle was on clear also.  Oblique angle is when the image is taken from a diagonal perspective.  Unfortunately, I am still having problems  with Shallow and deep space.

Melanie Gonzalez oblique angle

For our class assignment we had to take various shots of a chair and one of them was to take a shot in an oblique angle. I did not know what that was before today, an oblique angle is a shot taken at a diagonal. It can be taken from up close or from far as long as the diagonal is in focus. Me and my group took a couple great oblique angle shots so now I have a good idea of how to take photos from that angle.

Oblique angle, was what I had trouble with, after being explained to by the professor I understand it more. Oblique angle means taking the picture from a diagonal point of view. So what we did was we took the picture from a different corner, showing the diagonal effect.

unclear term

today in class i became familiar with the concept of using lines (straight and curved) to help compose a picture. as we were taking pictures of an ergonomic chair the back was shaped in a curve and by using side lighting i was able to emphasis the curve.

In-Class Chair Shoot Learning

In todays class i learned how to program the camera shutter speed, ios, and also change it to a raw image. When shooting the chair i learned that by having an image cut off it showed it to be radical cropping. I also learned that sectioning in which is not in the middle of the frame fall into rule of third in which an image fall in three section but never in the middle of the frame. The photo we took at the angle of a third allowed up to have a shadow and  have a dramatic appeal. In taking a photo of the chair at an angle i learned how to use off balance which slants the image view.

The Rule of Thirds is interest to me. by using the rule of thirds, we rule the image into 3 parts, and put the main object on the side and not in the center.  Also i feel the oblique angle is interest too, because it makes the object not looks like what it suppose look like by taking the photo in a strenge angle. I feel these two is very great to use when we are taking photograph because it gives us a new view and image.

i didn’t really understad minimized. i learned that minimized is when you take a photo of the object coing from the light. What i did was lower the light and aimed it to my chair and too a shot from a higher point than my light so i got a shot of the shadow as well as a bright view of the chair. i still dont undersand rule of thirds or shallow space to much.
