In the paragraph “the Thing itself” the different between the thing that is shown in a photograph or the subject of the photograph is talking about how photographer end result of the photography is what it’ll be remember about that moment,even though the moment happening before the picture is taken is important as well as the subject of the photography, the end result of the photo is what we’ll use as reference of that moment. Photographer job is to capture that moment that will show us, the viewer, what is truly happening as close to reality as possible, the photographer can capture that by capturing the fear,happiness,sadness,joy of the subject and the environment. The different between the thing or subject and the photographer also is important as the photographer has to focus on capturing the moment to it true originality by being truly focus in capturing everything about that moment that makes it special to capture forever. To add on, this is why the photograph is more important than the thing itself, as before photography we believes what was reasonable to be the true but now we can use visual imagines as proof of moment in history and personal moment that bring us joy,happiness. This has lead for photographer to search throughout the world to shows us perspective of moments and places we haven’t seen and bring awareness of causes and situation that we can see unless we’re there.

Szarkowski is also arguing that the photograph is different from the thing itself by changing the emphasis and directing our eye to what the photographer thought was important in the scene.
