Ashley Allman recently graduated from Thomas A Edison High School in 2011, and is currently studying Hospitality Management at New York City College of Technology (City Tech). One of her aspiration is to become a world renowned chef and work in a prestige hotel. To accomplish these goals, qualities such as determination, persistance, ambition, and dedication are needed. Ashley has shown that she is capable oof these by excellling while apart of her high school track and field team.
While attending City Tech, Ashley has also set some short term goals such as completeing all assignments promtly, do extra cirricular activities such as track and field, participating in workshops and activities relating to hospitatity management, and being on the honor roll. Shes very hopeful about her upcoming years in college and the experiences that will come along with it.

Course Description An overview of the history, likely direction and organizational structure of the hospitality industry and its role in the local, national and international economy. Examination of the nature and scope of this industry and basic management concepts. Introduction to department mission and interaction with alumni in career exploration. Course Objectives Upon completion of HMGT 1101 students will be able to a. Identify the scope of the hospitality and tourism industry b. Describe the characteristics of the Hospitality Industry on a local, national and international perspective c. Outline the duties of key executives and department heads in the hospitality industry and identify property management systems d. Explain the primary differences between hotel classifications e.
