Rebecca AnnMarie Charles is a trustworthy responsible young woman who is a New York native. She is 19 years old and was born and raised in Flushing, Queens. She attended John Bowne High School. She realized her passion for the field of hospitality management during her senior year of high school. Rebecca was elected into the Senior Office. This was a group of six responsible and diligent students whose job it was to organize every single senior event ranging from senior assemblies to graduation. During her time as a senior officer, Rebecca made sure that all of the seniors stayed informed and was always there to answer any questions they had. Her job was to cater to the needs of the senior class. After mentioning to her senior adviser how much she loved working for the senior office he suggested that she look into the field of hospitality management. Rebecca is currently studying at New York City College of Technology in the hospitality management program. She is eager to continue learning and gain experience through NYCCT hospitality management program. Rebecca wants to graduate with her bachelors degree and hopes to one day make it in the industry. She hopes to run a hotel, working in a management position. Although she is young, Rebecca is determined to work hard and achieve her goals.
My Courses
This course will examine urban tourism as a vehicle of urban renewal and economic regeneration. The roles of government, business, and the community will be explored as well as issues of development, management, the environment and social equity. New York City and Brooklyn will be evaluated as models for the development, challenges and opportunities of urban tourism.
Perspectives of Hospitality Management, HMGT 1101
Course Description An overview of the history, likely direction and organizational structure of the hospitality industry and its role in the local, national and international economy. Examination of the nature and scope of this industry and basic management concepts. Introduction to department mission and interaction with alumni in career exploration. Course Objectives Upon completion of HMGT 1101 students will be able to a. Identify the scope of the hospitality and tourism industry b. Describe the characteristics of the Hospitality Industry on a local, national and international perspective c. Outline the duties of key executives and department heads in the hospitality industry and identify property management systems d. Explain the primary differences between hotel classifications e. List the classifications of food and beverage operations f. Describe key management functions
