For the past two months, I’ve been involved in a pretty big project redesigning the Infor Blogs site. The current one is extremely confusing, doesn’t have a way to categorize any information, isn’t completely searchable, isn’t responsive, and just isn’t up to current standards based on Infor’s brand. It’s a small team of 5 working on this redesign: an Art Director, an Information Architect, a Project Manager, and two Designers including myself. We’ve mostly been communicating in person throughout the project since we all pretty much sit next to each other. We set up weekly meetings to address any updates, progress, or concerns. Between meetings we also communicate and send files through Slack. The project is being managed on BaseCamp where any necessary due dates and files are posted.
This is usually how we work on any of our projects and it’s been very successful, so we will continue to use these methods. I like having a site like BaseCamp to check due dates, any background information, notes, or files that are related to a project we’re working on. The project is actually extremely close to being done. The Senior Designer and I are putting the finishing touches on different templates and their breakpoints. I’m also spec’ing our designs to send to our developers. Specs are where I note what size font is being used, what the margins and padding in pixels are, etc. I can’t post images of the design here but I will try to include some on my final presentation. The new Infor Blogs site will be a huge improvement to the current one and I’m proud of the work my team and I have done on it.
