TIP: Check The Syllabus
This tip truly resonates with me as I find comfort in being aware of what lies ahead, allowing me to prep and prepare myself. Mentally, I prepare for the worst-case scenario, always almost all times like a superpower. It helps me maintain my calm and carefree demeanor, reliving what I already envisioned. In the context of a class, I would use this approach to review and reassure myself when feeling lost after a session or before attending so that I have a general understanding of what to expect. Checking the syllabus sets you up for the entire class; without it, there would be no guidance, and with it, you cannot fail outside your lack of means to give it your all because everything that is needed, every policy, every required material, every due date, or grading policy or anything course related would be listed for you already so it is in your power to produce the results you want. It’s also great for answering questions you might have.
TIP: Understanding Deadlines
This tip hits home because I’ve struggled with completing assignments and sometimes decided it was so late that I wouldn’t even turn it in. This tip makes me realize the importance of meeting deadlines head-on. In this class, I’ll apply it by being proactive, planning, and contacting professors if I need more time. I used to procrastinate, but now I’ll intentionally tackle assignments early, realizing the value of timely submissions. Asking for extensions is essential for me, too. I might’ve hesitated to seek extensions, worrying it wouldn’t be possible. Now, I understand facing challenges and asking for help is okay. In the future, I’ll be more attentive with my assignments and proactive about asking for extensions when needed, prioritizing my well-being and the quality of my work over potential discomfort.
