In the article âschools are killing curiosityâ Wendy Berline states that. There are children in school that have multiple questions about certain topics. That they would love to talk about, but schoolâs are telling them not to speak about those questions.
They are children that are curious and want to call out certain pointâs, but once the teacherâs realize what the studentâs are trying to say. They switch the topic to something as the weather. The article states âcurious children do better.â Meaning that students donât ask question sit down like a slave, and do what they do in the school so they can do better.
It states in paragraph 4 âKindergarten schools are the curious studentâs that performed the best.â But it also come down to the schoolâs that are located and the ranking of it. If the school is excellent has a high ranking the studentâs would be focused and not be distracted at all.
But most teacherâs had a expectation on the studentâs to concentrate, on being focused and have a representation of behaving a correct way. Because the school they attended to. In paragraph 12 it states that ââTeacherâs teach young children not to ask questions.â And this is what causes studentâs when they get older too slowly not participate anymore.
In paragraph 9 it stated â There were two-hours stretches in the fifth grade (year 6) where 10 and 11 year olds. Failed to ask their teacher single question.â Paragraph 12 it states â American researchers in 2013 were found to be less curiousâ. And these are children that are born curious, when these studentâs enter the school they need to shut their mouth. Because the teacherâs have a lot of topics that they need to teach.
In paragraph 20 it stated. âChildren should be prompted and encouraged to ask questions even though that can be challenging for the teachers. Thersâs is not enough time in schools for creativity and following up on curiosity.â
