Tip 1: Understanding Deadlines
This tip resonated with me since I struggle with procrastination and understanding deadlines can help to mitigate that problem. Though I don’t see myself physically applying this tip I can apply this tip mentally by doing so the risk of my submitting late work or not submitting work at all will greatly decrease. Moving forward if my schedule allows I’ll begin assignments the day I receive them instead of putting them off. I’ll also begin asking for extension if I do end up procrastinating so that at least an assignment gets submitted. Reflecting back I now see that not speaking up when I was falling behind and hoping I get extension weren’t the best way to go about things. I’ll apply this new thinking to my future assignments.
Tip 2: Try new things
This tip also stood out to me because though I like trying new things I often have trouble stepping out of my comfort zone. Im currently trying to apply this tip by annotating, usually when I’m told to annotate by teachers Im unable to do so not only because I didn’t know how to effectively but I also didn’t understand the point in annotating. Currently annotating has proven to be effective for me so I’ll begin using tips teachers have provided in the past and new ones that come up. For example though I was taught to plan out my essays in advance I’ve rarely done this, so hopefully I’ll start doing this. I feel the main reason why I haven’t utilized tips provided by teachers was because I often found my own way of doing things more effective for myself. I don’t plan on stopping doing things my own way if I believe its more effective I’ll simply take into consideration the tips I’m given and at least try them out before completely disregarding them.
I agree with you on doing assignments the same day I receive them.
Good here. Thoughtful self-reflection on your habits.
