” Schools are killing curiosity ” is expressing that curiosity is an important part of teaching children. Schools telling them to ” shut up and learn ” could possibly hinder their creative abilities. Berliner backs up this statement by including the opinions of experts. Dr Prachi Shah is a behavioral pediatrician. He says that ” Promoting curiosity in children , especially those from an environment of economic disadvantage may be an important, under recognized way to address the achievement gap. “. Not every child is given the same opportunities, so finding methods to address the gap between them and more advantaged children, is important. It is also important for children to be in touch with the world around them, according to the headmaster of Ilminster elementary. Asking questions and getting answers helps younger children stay curious about their environment. Curiosity is also part of the learning process, as Professor Paul Howard Jones says. ” Humans learn from novelty situations and curiosity is an important part of that process ” . In order to learn , questions need to be asked.
