Shitty First Drafts- Dessire

Part A- After understanding what Lamott said, she believes that writing your first draft is more about the process than the product itself. The first draft allows you to get all of your ideas out onto paper in order to write a great story. She had said that, “There may be something in the very last line of the very last paragraph on page six that you just love, that is so beautiful or wild that you now know what you’re supposed to be writing about, more or less, or in what direction you might go — but there was no way to get to this without first getting through the first five and a half pages”. First drafts are what allow people to enhance their writing as they progress. With new-founded ideas and information, we the writers , may be able to liven up a story as well as be able to get to our point without being too direct or leading readers astray.

Part B- ” The right words and sentences just do not come pouring out like ticker tape most of the time “. This is a statement in response to another writer Lamott knew. This singular sentence holds great value because not everything is going to be perfect the first time around. First drafts are meant to be shitty because it’s the start of something great. It’s a combination of many thoughts put into one. At that moment , your mind is set to wander freely. Though your writing may not have sprouted, it is a growing seed. You have to start somewhere in order to become extraordinary. The condition may not be perfect but it is growing; Growing to become beautiful as each stage goes by. The beginning may not be seen by others but it is the foundation that allows you to plant your roots and thrive.
