” As your body sleeps, your brain is quite actively playing the part of mental janitor: It’s clearing out all of the junk that has accumulated as a result of your daily thinking. ” (Maria)

” While work on the effects of sleeping aids on the glymphatic system remains to be done, the sleep researchers I spoke with agree that there’s no evidence that aided sleep is as effective as natural sleep. ” (Maria)

” At the extreme end, the result could be the acceleration of neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. While we don’t know whether sleep loss causes the disease, or the disease itself leads to sleep loss — what Dr. Veasey calls a “classic chicken-and-egg” problem — we do know that the two are closely connected. ” (Maria)

  1. Hey Daniela I like your summary you have the main idea and including supporting details. I would just say to maybe include a little more into your reflection and your rhetorical analysis. You could add some of your own original thinking about the article into the reflection and with the rhetorical analysis just go a little bit more into what the authors purpose was with writing this article and maybe how she used the appeal of ethos , pathos or logos.

  2. This is a 2014 article – much too old! This is part of your job to access whether your source is current or not. ALSO your citation is wrong — you did not use the citation machine!

Your source writing (on all five parts) is weak and underdeveloped. You need to go back to the Assignment and study the instructions. Study the examples.

  3. Hi Daniela,

Your summary is very straight-forward and to the point, and I like that. You can maybe add some more information to it, though. In your reflection, I did not really see any of your own original ideas; it was like another summary. In your analysis, you should add if logos, pathos, or ethos were used. You should also give more background on the author instead of just using the NYT as a reason that she is credible. I like the quotes you picked.

    Sincerely,

    Bri
