Success Tips – Bri

Tip 1: The first tip that speaks to me personally is to find study skills that work for me. It’s important that I find ways that help me study my best. There are a lot of study tips out there like writing what you’re studying down but personally that doesn’t work for me. I prefer to have music playing in my AirPods while I go over what I have to study, it makes me retain it better. I tried all the studying hacks but that one is the best one for me. Another study tip I use is reciting what I study over and over every day. At work, I would repeat what I studied in my head to see if I remember. I will use this tip in class but studying the way that helps me the most. I used to study other ways that don’t help me but now I found ways that help me so I will just stick to what helps me.

Tip 2: The second tip that is significant personally is to come to class (physically). This speaks to me because when I was in high school, I used to get to school whenever I wanted to. I barely went to class towards the end of my senior year. I will use this tip to make sure I get to class every day I have class and on time. I will wake up extra early and not take a last-minute bus, if I can arrive to class thirty minutes before it starts then I will make sure to do so. When I was in high school, I would wake up at 6:30 and I would just lay in the bed until 8 am. 8 am was the time I was supposed to reach in school, but I wouldn’t start getting ready until 8 am. I would reach school at around 10 am which resulted in me missing my first three classes. I will definitely change this behavior in college, now if I have a class for 12, I will wake up at 9 and leave my house at 10 to make sure I make it to class on time.

  1. Studying isn’t it for me either. I can never just sit down and over something I know over and over again because it starts to get confusing but hopefully I find more ways to help me study and be a better student.

  2. Hi Bri, I understand what you mean about studying and I don’t like doing it either. I find it boring and not very useful. I learned that listening to music helps me focus more and I can agree that you would be better doing that too.
